More than a year and a half after flood waters ravaged southern Alberta, Samaritan’s Purse is still helping flood affected families piece their lives back together through its Southern Alberta Restoration Program.

Communications Manager Frank King said Samaritan’s Purse has already helped to restore the homes of 21 families in Calgary and High River, and are currently working to help 25 more families.

“There are still lots of folks who still don’t have their homes back to where they were,” King said. “Either they didn’t have the insurance money, or the government funding didn’t come through the way they wanted it to, they just didn’t have the financial capability one way or another.”

King is appealing to Calgarians to help by volunteering their help.

“The same kind of volunteers who came out and helped homeowners after the floods… we still need those kind of people now to help these other families who need their homes finished off.”
